According to CN Beta, Xiaomi could launch its own processors as early as 2016. But don’t hold your breath, the report mentions that the new processor will be used for low-end Redmi series phones.
Rumor has it the upcoming Xiaomi Mi 5 to sport a Qualcomm chipset, most likely the Snapdragon 820.
Xiaomi smartphones are currently powered by either Qualcomm or MediaTek, except the Xiaomi Redmi 2A which sports the Leadcore chipset.
Xiaomi has also reportedly acquired the full range of ARM core licenses.
According to a report, the company has also recently hired Qualcomm China Head Wang Xiang. So start the rumor mill.
Xiaomi has not announced anything officially.
