Xiaomi launched the much anticipated global version MIUI 7 August 19 at an event in New Delhi.

MIUI 7 comes as a major upgrade to Xiaomi device users, as it is run on top of Android Lollipop 5.1. The previous MIUI 6 was limited to KitKit 4.4.

At the event, Xiaomi said it is releasing 4 different “systems” of MIUI 7 for users outside China.

Users will be able to download MIUI 7 to their supported devices on Monday August 24.

Here are the top features from today’s presentation.

With MIUI 7 you can set it so the lockscreen is changed daily. Either with stock photos or an album in your gallery.


System app startup time has been made much faster.


10% better battery life for daily use.


As we previously mentioned, you will be able to exchange pictures or video to play when a contact in your address book is calling you. Adding a new level of personalization.


MIUI 7 comes with a Visual IVR for India.


30% faster system response time.


Automatically activate DND when your Mi Band sense you are asleep.
