Xiaomi released a new, updated version of the Redmi 2A model that went on sale in China today.
The Redmi 2 is Xiaomi’s least-expensive smartphone available to consumers.
The new Redmi 2A comes with improvements in two major areas, RAM and storage. Xiaomi doubled both for the new model, bringing to Redmi 2A into the modern smartphone world with 2GB of RAM, and 16GB of storage.
The 1GB of RAM on the Redmi 2A was always a major usage barrier for users.
The Redmi 2A is priced at an incredible CNY 549 (US$86), which is US$7.85 more than the original Redmi 2.
For specs, the Redmi 2A will have:
- 4.7-inch 720p screen
- 8 MP rear camera with LED flash
- 2 MP selfie shooter
- Leadcore L1860C chipset with 1.5 GHz quad-core CPU
- 4G LTE support
- dual-SIM functionality
- 2,200 mAh battery
We think these are amazing specs considering the price of the phone.
