Google has officially announced Android M on their September 29 event. With key features coming to the OS like app permissions, fingerprint support, mobile payments, and improved design and UI, there are no doubt many of us eagerly waiting to try out Marshmallow for ourselves.
Good news! it has been announced that Android M will be supported on Xiaomi by the end of the year.
Android 6.0 Marshmallow will be supported on the following Xiaomi devices:
- Mi 4
- Mi 4i
- Mi Note
- Mi Note Pro
- Redmi Note 2
- Redmi 2 Prime
- Redmi 2
The second batch of Xiaomi smartphones to receive Android 6.0 include Redmi Note (2014) and the Redmi 1S.
But there is an elephant in the room…
What about MIUI? It hasn’t even updated to Lollipop yet??
We know. But there is hope. We had a fiery debate in the office this week about whether or not Xiaomi is going to skip Android Lollipop altogether, and push MIUI 7 straight into Marshmallow.
If they come out with a Lollipop update when everyone else is getting Marshmallow, that’d be pretty disappointing. Just saying.
