To install a custom recovery there are several methods but we will show you the easiest method, fastboot.

  1. ADB driver installed on your pc/laptop
  2. TWRP recovery image file

So after downloading both files make a new folder in the desktop and move both the files there, rename the recovery image file to “twrp”.

To install the adb driver just go to the settings of your phone then click about phone and tap the built number 7 times to unlock developer option.

In developer option enable USB debugging. Then connect your phone with PC via USB cable now you will see the drivers will start installing just wait few minutes till the drivers get installed.

Next, remove the USB cable of your phone and power off it. After that press volume down button and hold power button for few seconds you will see that you have entered the Fastboot Mode.

Now connect your phone to the pc and open the new folder then hold shift and click the right button of your mouse to open the command window. Now it is almost done just type this command ”FASTBOOT FLASH RECOVERY TWRP.img” and press enter. Then you will see installation is done it just takes few seconds.

Press volume up key and hold down the power button for few seconds, when the Mi logo appears, release the buttons and wait for the device to boot fully.

That’s it! You have successfully booted into twrp recovery.

    • That happens if your rom is not rooted. Once you flash a custom rom while in twrp, it won’t boot to mi recovery.
