Xiaomi Redmi 4 and Redmi 4a are two of the wallet-friendly devices in the Indian market under Rs. 7000.
Xiaomi Redmi 4a which was launched in India back in November last year is priced at Rs. 5,999.
On the other hand, the Redmi 4 is launched this May and the device is priced at Rs. 6,999.
The price difference is only Rs. 1,000. But there exist considerable differences between Redmi 4 and Redmi 4a.

Xiaomi Redmi 4a feature a plastic finish while the Redmi 4 feature a metal finish with a unibody design.
The Redmi 4 comes with a fingerprint sensor at back panel while Redmi 4a doesn’t have a fingerprint sensor.
The volume and power button, IR Blaster, camera set-up are similar in both devices.
In terms of the speaker, the Redmi 4a houses a speaker at the rear panel while Redmi 4 houses the speaker at the bottom edge.
In terms of design and build Redmi 4 won the battle for its metal unibody design and fingerprint sensor.
Both devices come with 5-inches HD display with a resolution of 1280*720P. But the Redmi 4 feature 2.5D glass which adds extra value to the device.

The Redmi 4a is powered by a Snapdragon 425 SoC coupled with Adreno 308 GPU while Redmi 4 is powered by Snapdragon 435 SoC coupled with Adreno 505 GPU.
Both devices carry 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage.
In hardware section, Redmi 4 is clearly ahead with powerful SoC and GPU.
The Redmi 4a carries a 13MP rear camera with an aperture of f/2.0 and a 5MP front facing shooter. The Redmi 4 carries the same camera but there is a difference is aperture value. It comes with an aperture f/2.2.
On terms of battery, the Redmi 4a is backed by 3120mAh battery while the Redmi 4 is backed by 4100mAh battery.
