  • That’s because devices using the MIUI Global ROM will probably only get updated to MIUI 9 in 2019, after Google releases Android 9 or 10 or 11 or 12 or 13…
Xiaomi’s focus is mostly on Chinese customers, which makes sense, because it’s their biggest market and their home market. Apple also focuses more on the US market for the same reasons. However, when apple releases an iOS update, it’s Global.
If Xiaomi wants to focus primarily on the Chinese market, then they shouldn’t market their products to other regions, they should stick to the Chinese market only.
But it’s cool, I have learnt my lesson now, never buying a Chinese phone again, gonna get a Nokia, Sony or Samsung next time.

    • My Mi5s is using the latest global 8.5.3 ROM. I already found a bug on the wireless display.
It seems that MIUI 9 global will come in 2019 which means that all the anouncements by Aug 2017 release will be for China customers. Quite dissapointing. Just stop sending incomplete info.
