Xiaomi has launched Redmi Note 5A in two models and three storage variants.
The base model is named Redmi Note 5A and the higher model is named Redmi Note 5A Prime.
The based model Redmi Note 5A houses octa-core 64-bit Snapdragon 425 SoC coupled with Adreno 308GPU.
The device is powered by 2GB of RAM and 16GB of ROM. The storage is expandable up to 128GB via microSD card.
On the contrary, the Redmi Note 5A Prime houses octa-core 64-bit Snapdragon 435 SoC coupled with Adreno 505 GPU.
The Prime version comes in two storage versions- the first one with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage and the second one with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of ROM. It also supports expandable storage up to 128GB.
The big difference is, the base variant does not house a fingerprint sensor while the prime variant comes with a fingerprint sensor at the rear panel.
Another difference comes in terms of the camera; the Redmi Note 5A carries a 13MP camera at the rear and the 5MP camera at the front.
While the Redmi Note 5A Prime sports 13MP camera at the rear and 16MP selfie camera at the front.
Both models will be available at Champagne Gold, Rose Gold, and Platinum Silver color options. The device sports 5.5-inch display and will be backed by a 3080mAh battery.
All variants house 2 SIM slots and a microSD card slot. The device will be run on Android Nougat based MIUI 9 out of the box.
The base model Redmi Note 5A is priced the CNY 699 (~$104) and for the Prime model the 3GB+32GB version is priced at CNY 899 ($135) and 4GB+64GB version is priced at CNY 1199 ($179).
