Xiaomi has confirmed that the company is all set to launch Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus on December 7, 2017.
Ahead of the launch event, the specs and price details spread online in several leaks and rumors. According to our source, both of the devices will go on sale starting from December 12, 2017.
It is already confirmed that the upcoming Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus are 18:9 full-screen display, soft-toned selfie-light, and a large battery (4000mAh).
According to the listing, the Redmi 5 will sport a 5.7” 1440 x 720 display with an 18:9 aspect ratio.
The device is supposed to be powered by an octa-core processor clocked at 1.8GHz Snapdragon 450 SoC along with Adreno 506 GPU.
The SD 450 SoC is an improved version of SD 625 and it can provide support for support for 18:9 displays.
The new leaks also suggest that the Redmi 5 will come in two storage versions- 2GB+16GB, 3GB+32GB respectively. The Redmi 5 may come with 12MP rear and 5MP front camera.
All storage version may run on Android 7.1.2 based MIUI 9 ROM and supposed to be feature 12MP rear camera and 5MP front camera.
Coming to the Redmi 5 Plus, the device is supposed to sports 5.99” FHD+ display along with a 2.0GHz octa-core powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor and 4000mAh battery.
In terms of storage variant, it may come with 3GB+32GB and 4GB+64GB variants. It may sport dual camera setup featuring a 12-megapixel primary sensor and a 5-megapixel secondary sensor.
In terms of pricing, the Redmi 5 2+32GB version may price at CNY 699 (~$106) while the 3GB+32GB model may price at CNY 999 (~$151).
The Redmi 5 Plus 3GB+32GB may price at CNY 999(~$151) and the 4GB+64GB may price at CN 1,299 (~$196).
