Xiaomi launches Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus

Xiaomi has launched long rumored Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus in China. Both devices carry similar design tone and specs except for some prominent differences,

Both Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 plus devices come with two storage versions. The devices will go on sale from December 12. Xiaomi has not announced when the devices will be available in other regions.

Xiaomi Redmi 5 Highlights:

The Redmi 5 will sport a 5.7” 1440 x 720 display with an 18:9 aspect ratio.

The device is powered by an octa-core processor clocked at 1.8GHz Snapdragon 450 SoC along with Adreno 506 GPU.

The Redmi 5 comes in two storage versions- 2GB+16GB, 3GB+32GB respectively. All storage version may run on Android Nougat based MIUI 9 ROM. The device will be backed by a 3300mAh battery.

In terms of camera, the Redmi 5 carries 12-megapixel rear camera with a 1.25-micron pixel sensor and flash,

At the front, it houses 5MP camera with soft selfie module. It features AI beautiful 3.0.

In terms of pricing, the Redmi 5 2+32GB version is priced price at CNY 799 (~$120) while the 3GB+32GB model may price at CNY 899 (~$135).

Coming to the Redmi 5 Plus, it sports 5.99” FHD+ 18:9 display along with a 2.0GHz octa-core powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor

In terms of storage variant, it comes with 3GB+32GB and 4GB+64GB variants. The device will be backed by 4000mAh battery.
