Redmi Note 5 replaced by Redmi 5 Plus

MIUI Forum Moderator has claimed that Xiaomi is not going to release the much anticipated Redmi Note 5.

He also stated that the Redmi 5 Plus is a replacement of Redmi Note 5. MIUI Forum Super Moderator mitch002 made the claim in this thread.

According to this thread, this is heartbreaking news for Redmi fans who are eagerly waiting for Redmi Note 5.

There has not been an official statement from Xiaomi about the replacement; so take this info with a pinch of salt and wait for the official statement.

Super Moderator mitch002 has claimed that- “The wait is finally over, Xiaomi has finally decided to release the Redmi Note 5, wait!!! I heard it’s called the Redmi 5 Plus? No kidding?? There was a name change? Well yes folks, the 2 new Redmi Note sized phones are named Redmi 5 for the 5.7″ and Redmi 5 Plus for the 5.99″. What will happen to the successor of the Redmi 4X which is supposed to be a 5″ Redmi 5? No one knows, but as of the moment, Xiaomi has decided to drop the Note name on their 5.7″ sized budget phones. It has been quite a year and 3 months in the waiting for all of us Redmi fans from all over the world, and now we are going to unbox the bigger sibling among the two, the Redmi 5 Plus.”

Mi fans were waiting for Redmi Note 5 with 5.99-inch FHD+ display as the Redmi 5 Plus but a Snapdragon 660 or at least Snapdragon 630 chipset.

Instead of SD 660/630, the Redmi 5 Plus has Snapdragon 625 chipset with 3/4 GB RAM and 32/64 GB storage.

The display has 18:9 ratios and a 5 MP selfie camera are keeping it company. The rear sensor is 12 MP, coupled with a dual-LED flash.

The Redmi 5 Plus 3GB+32GB is priced at CNY 999(~$151) and the 4GB+64GB may price at CN 1,299 (~$196).
