Xiaomi and Oculus have announced that both companies are working together to bring two standalone VR headsets to market. It is also confirmed that the next generation VR will be Oculus Go and Xiaomi Mi VR Standalone.
Oculus has stated that- “We’re working with Xiaomi as our hardware partner for the global launch of Oculus Go and are also jointly announcing Mi VR Standalone—a VR headset based on Oculus technology exclusively for the Chinese market.”
Both Oculus Go and Mi VR Standalone house Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 Mobile VR Platform as the powerhouse.
Xiaomi has confirmed that Mi VR Standalone shares the same core hardware features and design as Oculus Go.
It also supports the Oculus Mobile SDK, enabling existing Oculus developers to easily bring their content to the Mi VR platform in China.
Hugo Barra, VP of VR at Facebook stated-“Through our partnership with Xiaomi, both Oculus Go and Mi VR Standalone represent our first step in delivering that sweet spot between mobile and PC VR. These devices will be, hands down, the easiest way to get into VR.”

Mi VR Standalone features 2K high-resolution fast-switch LCD screen, next-generation lenses and integrated spatial audio.
Xiaomi will offer a vast content library of movies, 360° videos and interactive games available through the Mi VR Store. It houses 3.5mm headphone for next level experience in VR.
All the necessary drivers and spatial audio technology developed by Oculus are built in into the Mi VR Standalone.
